What is “The ABC Project”?     Back to Top
  • This project, sponsored by the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce, is being initiated to promote beautification and community pride throughout the City of Apopka. Businesses within the Apopka area will be recognized for landscape improvements and maintenance. It is also designed to educate businesses on how to reach their goals to rejuvenate their business presence and increase their “bottom line”.
Why should my business participate?     Back to Top
Winners receive the following FREE advertising valued at over $600.00:
  • Placement of the Beautification Award sign in front of your business for 1 month for increased drive-by visibility
  • Photo and recognition in the Apopka Chief newspaper
  • Photo and recognition in the Apopka Chamber of Commerce monthly newsletter
  • Invitation and recognition at the Apopka Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon
  • $100.00 gift certificate to the restaurant of your choice! (List of eligible restaurants are included with gift certificate)
What are the criteria for winning the award?       Back to Top
  • Your business must be a member of the Apopka Chamber OR located within Apopka.
  • Improvements (i.e. landscaping, new sign, etc.) must be maintained for a period of 3 consecutive months prior to receiving the award.
  • Structural improvements must enhance the aesthetics of the city.
Where can I find information on what landscaping is permitted?       Back to Top
  • The City of Apopka has developed Arbor Regulations as part of the city ordinances. This ordinance describes in detail the process on how, where, and what landscaping is approved within the city limits. Click on the following link to access this information through the City of Apopka web site:

  • Progress Energy has also developed a program entitled “Know Where You Grow” to educate individuals and companies about avoiding power lines when planting trees. For more information, visit their web site at:
  • Want to save money on your landscaping project? Think “Florida Friendly” landscaping!! This type of landscaping promotes the use of native, drought tolerant plants for water conservation. The University of Florida Institute of Food & Agricultural Services has created an online guide to educate the public about how to incorporate this type of landscaping into your design plans. You can access the guide at:
  • http://Hort.UFL.edu/fyn/handbook.pdf (Adobe Reader 6.0 or higher is required to view this document)
